Our Week Before London Trip!!

We started our week on Monday, 1st of October.
We went through our journals and learnt how to write and take notes in our journals.
We went through the IB Learner Profile and got set a task to do for homework called "The Diamond", we listed the most important aspect of the IB learner Profile in Drama from 1-10 into our journals!

Wednesday 3rd October, we did freeze-frames to show how we are and what we are expecting/worrying about as an IB theatre Student from the beginning. We did three freeze-frames each and involved the whole class to act out our freeze-frames. We then chose our favourite one and took a picture of this. We then annotated it into our journal explaining what the emotion is and what the movement represents.
My freeze-frame was our new theatre group coming together as one, trusting and cooperating with eachother and aiming for the same thing. Being a team that works well, trusts each other and helps eachother is important to work well in theatre.

Thursday 4th October, we performed our presentations that we had been working on. Unfortunately, I did not get to present mine on the performance we are watching in London called 'Oh, The Humanity' but I will be presenting it quickly in the airport lounge to my class....:(

-Bekki's Presentation was on Immersive Theatre. I had never heard of immersive theatre and it seems like a very exciting and realistic type of theatre. I would love to be involved in an immersive theatre piece.
It involves:

  • audience interaction (maybe speech, improvisation and freedom)
  • no fourth wall
  • strange sites where immersive theatre is performed
  • intense experience for the audience
-Abby's presentation was on Pupperty Around the World. It was incredibly interesting to learn about as I only really knew about a couple of different Puppetry theatre practises.
The different practises were:
  • Bunraku-Japanese Puppet theatre
  • The puppet show- chinese
  • Black Light puppetry
  • indian leather puppetry
  • Turkish shadow play
  • Opera Dei Pupi
  • Handspring Puppetry- South African
Axel's presentation was on a production we are seeing in LONDON called "One Man, Two Guvoners"
I am expecting:
  • humour
  • Sometimes no fourthwall
  • I can see that some aspects are taken from Comedia Del Arte
Tomorrow, we are off to London from Sunday-Thursday :D So exciteddddd
