Commedia Work!

Monday 28th of January: We gave in our annotated bibliographies, I found it a bit hard to do this task that we were set because of how much research and sometimes wrong things would come up and I had to spent quite a few hours on just finding the sources. Our aim for this lesson was to get started on our commedia piece and working on every scene separately and in detail. Lydia and Me are the Zanni in our piece and we started off on stage 'play fighting'  Mr.Fearnehough told us there needs to be lots of audience participation with the Zanni because they are the characters that get the most laughs and its more easier for the Zanni to go in the audience and do something. We then decided to come in through the audience at the back because it wouldn't be expected and we could tease the audience, make fun of them and start a 'play fight' according to what we did with the audience. We then came up with an over the top, exaggerated entrance for Il Capitano.

Wednesday 30th of January: We continued in the studio on our piece and we came up with a better way of introducing the fight between the Zanni and Il Capitano. It is very over the top and funny. We then came up with an idea for the two lovers to meet. Mr.Fearnehough gave us the idea that in movies when ever two people meet there is a sudden attraction and everything slows down, we did this and it worked really well it was very over the top and was funny to watch. The only thing that put me down in that lesson was the mask wearing, I know it's so that we can get really into character but I just don't feel comfortable with a tight mask around my face which sometimes gets in the way because I am fixing it around my head or my face.

Thursday 31st of January: We continued on our piece but this time Mr.Fearnehough wasn't here but we still had a set scene to perfect 'The Guitar Scene'. We all go loads of ideas and the Zanni (a.k.a Lydia and Me) decided on more audience interaction and came through the audience to a horrible guitar being played and just messing with the audience from that. It was good that Halley and Axel were not in this scene because it helped Lydia and Me to mess with them and get more ideas. We then worked together to try and figure out how Isabella could meet the new guy (who's name seems to be changing quite a bit). We all listened to our ideas and came up with quite a funny way to show the new guy and how Isabella falls for him.
